LETTER FROM THE DEAN

The world needs public health now, more than ever. Research and workforce changes at the federal level are impacting the health of people locally and globally. To meet the diverse needs of our world, we must continue to advance rigorous research and to train public health professionals who can improve the health of all people. In times of political uncertainty, infectious diseases, humanitarian crises, maternal mortality rates, gun violence, health inequities, and environmental health factors continue to persist—if not intensify. The field of public health is ideally set to find and implement solutions to these challenges, and your pursuit of a degree in this field means that you are part of these solutions.

Here at Rollins, you will find researchers collaborating with NASA on air pollution programs; epidemiologists working in epidemiological modeling and wastewater surveillance to prevent the next pandemic; researchers dedicated to improving maternal and reproductive health; behavioral scientists studying the impact of racial and economic disparities on health outcomes; and researchers working to prevent the spread of the world’s deadliest infectious and chronic diseases including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Rollins is truly a global community representing a wide range of lived experiences, perspectives, and gifts. At Rollins, you will find exceptional researchers, students, and academics, but also outstanding human beings who are approachable, empathetic, and kind.
